Madjandji Ancestral Walking Tracks: 2022-2024.

The Department of Environment, Science and Innovation has funded a project led by the Madjandji Aboriginal Corporation to rediscover, document, and assess the feasibility of reopening ancestral tracks through the southern portion of the Malbon-Thompson Forest Reserve. This initiative involves re-walking and mapping these trails.

The primary aim is to investigate the potential for reconnecting the communities of Deeral and Aloomba to the coast, with long-term considerations for extending the connection to julara. The project has culminated in a detailed report outlining the viability, cultural significance, and environmental considerations of reopening these traditional routes.
