THE WELCOMING MADJANDJI LANGUAGE PROJECT
The language project, funded by the Department of Seniors, Disability and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships (DSDATSIP, formerly known as DATSIP) was well received.
The concept of the Language Project came about through the 2020 NAIDOC celebrations at McDonnell Creek State School, where Elders shared the Madjandji language and culture with the principal, teachers and students. Mulgrave Landcare also supported NAIDOC with the establishment of a bush tucker plot in the school grounds. The funding produced a language booklet, posters and signage.
